ADVENT begins on Sunday 1 st December this year.
Again we would encourage anyone who is looking for a different thing to do to try the Reverse Advent Calendar. Many of us have enjoyed the little boxes on our Advent Calendar and the chocolates inside. Why not join us to give something back as well?
Find an empty box:Each day put something inside to give away.
By Christmas Eve or a few days before you will have a box full of items to donate to a local charity.
If you are unsure where to donate, look for more details next month.
Sunday 1 st December
in Pilton Parish Church at 3.00pm.
Children of all ages, their families and everyone are invited.
Helping to make the Christingles is fun and tasty
and the lighted candles look lovely, however old or young you are.
We are supporting the work of the Children’s Society.
Friday Night is Music Night!
Our next meeting is on Friday 29 November in the Church Room at 7.30pm. Do come and join a small group who meet to listen to a programme of recorded music. This evening shows the return of Ian Baker with a selection of Jazz and Big Band music from his collection of 78’s. Let nostalgia abound! New ‘listeners’ will be made very welcome.
Entrance £3 – free for Friends of St Mary’s. Donations towards the cost of wine/coffee gratefully received. Contact Terry (345139) or Jenny (345405) for more details or if you are hoping to come.
Over the winter, we are holding a different type of service on the second Sunday of each month, in place of our traditional Evensong.
We will gather in Dinder Village Hall at 4.00pm when tea and cakes will be served. There will be a short, informal service with a different theme each month. The service will usually include a hymn or two, a short talk, a time for prayer, for reflection and discussion, and activities suitable for all ages. After the service, everyone can stay for a chat over another cup of tea.
Everyone is welcome, from the very youngest (who won’t be expected to sit still or be quiet) to the oldest (who also won’t have to sit still and be quiet!). You do not have to be a regular churchgoer, nor do you have to live in Dinder or Dulcote.
Our first Café Church will be at 4.00pm on Sunday 10th November which is Remembrance Sunday, and Remembrance will be our theme. We will meet again on 8th December when we will be celebrating Advent, the time when we look forward to Christmas.
Please come along – you can be sure of a warm welcome
